Whisper la greyhound / Time for retirement

Lorsqu'elle a pris sa retraite il y a 5 ans, Whisper est devenue disponible pour l'adoption et nous avons été les heureux parents élus. Chaque année aux États-Unis, 40 000 chiens sont retirés des courses dont 20 000 sont adoptés. Les autres sont euthanasiés. Whisper est un amour. Ces chiens sont simplement fantastiques ! / 5 years ago, Whisper took her retirement from the races. We were the fortunate who had the chance to adopt her. 40,000 greyhounds are whitdrawn from the tracks per year. From that number, 20,000 are adopted while the others are euthanized. Whisper is a sweet love. She is also called "social butterfly". Those dogs are wonderful pets.

Beautiful greyhound...love her collar. It is sad that so many are unable to find loving homes. She is blessed to have you.

In the name of Whisper, thanks for the compliment :o) Not that many years ago, 60K of them were put down per year. The devotion of animal lovers put the pressure on the "industry" with the result of today's number...

They are most beautiful dogs indeed. Its very sad that once they stop racing, so many are 'put down'. My other half's family keep Saluki Hounds, which are similar - they not half run around, all gangly legs at top speed.
Thats a great shot.

@Richard_Irwin: Thanks a lot Richard. I know Salukis very well. They are wonderful dogs. I have also owned afghan hounds and whippets. I think I am a trully hound person :o)))
